Q: What can you tell us about the history of your business?
A: I bought the old Pooltown building at 51 Southeast Ave., renovated it, and opened our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu School in July of 2023. Before that we were located in the strip mall next to Planet Fitness on South Ave. for many years.
Q: Can you share a memorable experience or success story that highlights the impact of your business on our community?
A: I was a Police Officer in the City of Tallmadge for 12 years, and used my Martial Arts skills in real life or death situations on the street. Although I retired, I continue to pass on my knowledge to local Law Enforcement Officers to keep them safe!
Q: Have there been any mentors or individuals who have played a significant role in guiding or supporting you along your journey as a small business owner?
A: Gene Chicoine, Michael Lograsso, and Eduardo Barros
Q: How does your Business contribute to local initiatives or support charitable causes in Tallmadge?
A: We donate to the Josh Miktarian Memorial Scholarship Fund every year. We also are proud affiliates of the We Defy Organization and the Adopt-A-Cop Program, which provides injured military veterans and Police Officers free training in Jiu-Jitsu!
Q: What message would you like to share with the residents of Tallmadge about the importance of supporting local businesses?
A: Local businesses are the backbone of every community, and the businesses care a great deal about providing a great service to the residents!
